My husband (sweetly) gives me roses every year for Valentine’s Day. By my calculation, that means he gave me my 300th rose this year!
Part of the joy of them for me, aside from the thought and the look and the smell, is photographing them. Every year I take photos of them. I love macro photography and I find it to be very relaxing and a practice in mindfulness. This year, though, the photos of the flowers themselves didn’t do much for me. So I branched out and photographed some of the greenery. And those images were my favorites from this session!

Sometimes it helps me to branch out and think beyond the obvious.

I love that you’ve gotten 300 roses from him, that’s so sweet! Also, that greenery image is amazing, and I love your thoughts on branching out…always important to remember!

Thank you! I really didn’t realize it was that many roses until I did the math! I’ll have to tell him these are my 300th!

I love this tradition.
I am trying to learn to look at the less obvious frame in my photography (it can be hard) and I love that you captured the small ferny greenery that really isn’t the star of the arrangement, yet adds so much to the overall beauty of it. The simplicity of it is so calming.

I love the image of the greenery. I think sometimes we just need to think of different ways to photograph the know, and you did it beautifully. ❤
